If you filter your water, this might be good as a backup incase you have filter problems. Since they can hold 25 tablets it will last long enough to get your filter fixed or find more pills.

Katadyn Micropur tablets also fit the bill for water treatment that fits in a first aid kit. Come in individually sealed foil packets, so no waste or shelf-life issues. Though if you carry them around in a first aid kit awhile, they aren't tablets anymore when you open them.
