I am trying to decide between two closed cell foam pads: Mount Washington Pad and RidgeRest.

Mount Washington is advertised as 7 ounces, but Sgt Rock's review shows it to actually be 8 ounces. The 3/4 RidgeRest is advertised as 9 ounces. Does anyone know if the advertised weight is the actual weight?

The Ridgerest is a little cheaper, so I'm trying to make a decision based on weight and price.

Be advised that Mt Washington pads are no longer being made.

Oh, I didn't realize Mt Washingtons are no longer being made. I guess that settles it for me. Thanks for the weight of the Ridgerest, Chris.

Paramount Outfitters (the makers of the Mt Washington) posted a month or two ago that the price for the material rose so much that they couldn't continue selling them.

Oware sells padding made from the same materail, at least they did. It was in 40" wide pieces so you could really trim to your preference.

Alison,
I have the 3/4 lenght ridge rest and have cut it down to 36" long and the weight is 7.4 oz. I hope this will help you out.You can always cut down your sleeping pad to make it fit you or you could just go with the orignal lenght.:p

My 3/4 RidgeRest weighs exactly 9.0 oz. I also carry an Ultra-Lite 3/4 (self-infating mattress) that weighs exactly 1 lb. These two items are just about the ONLY gear I own that weighs exactly what the manufacturer advertises! This weight includes no extra tie-down straps or stuff sacks -- just the individual items by themselves.

Thanks for your help, everyone! I called Oware to ask if the foam padding they sell is egg-crated or ridged, and it's not--just flat. So I decided on the Ridgerest.
