i have been experimenting with numerous stove designs and a couple differnt cook pots. seeing as how i only need approx. 16-18oz of water boiled per dinner i would like to use the snow peak 600. the problem i am having is that i need a stove which can accomodate such a small mug. so basically i am looking for an alcohol stove which is fairly efficient(1 oz per meal) and has a narrower flame pattern. any ideas????

For a cup/pot with a 3 3/4" diameter in my experience you'll need an alcohol stove of @ 1 3/4" diameter to maximize effeciency. Sgt. Rock's Ionstove comes closest to that among the commercial options. Someone else may know of another stove that would work on such a small diameter pot.
The other option is to make your own stove to achieve the desired diameter. Are you looking to build your own stove or buy one?

Check out Mini Bull Designs. TONS of options. Each alcohol stove with a different design and purpose in mind. He has a stove called the Nion that is like the ion, but made out of energy drink cans.

These are 2 homemade stoves with diameters I think would suit your Snowpeak 600. The one on the left is 1 3/8" diameter and is made from small travel size hairspray cans. The one on the right is 1 5/8" in diameter and constructed from Suave hair mousse cans.

Here is an assortment of stove sizes to show what is possible if you hunt around:

From left to right they are:
Elements energy drink- 2 5/8"( roughly the same as a soda can )
Budweiser Aluminum bottles- 2 5/16"
Hair spray- 2 1/16"( roughly the same as an Ionstove )
Hair mousse- 1 5/8"
Small hair spray- 1 3/8"
Have fun with it!

I use the Snow Peak 600 cup to cook in (just boil water). The stove that I use with it is the Brasslite Turbo 1. It has a pretty small flame diameter and works better than most other stoves I have tried with it. I wrap the stove in a plastic bag and bandana and carry it in the Snow Peak cup. It easily fits into it.
With other bigger pots I use a Photon stove that I made. It has a larger flame pattern than the Brasslite stove and works great with the bigger pots.
