I've been looking around for a good container for olive oil and spotted one today at the snack shop at work. It held grape juice and is about 300 ml---just about the right size for the smallest containers of olive oil. :)---screw top and pretty solid. Does anyone know if there's any problem storing oil in one of these? (I do plan to seal inside a ziplock for insurance).
I have used a 8 ounce spring water bottle for the last 3 years - no problems with leaks, bad taste, or bottle disintegration - I carry it in my cozy to help keep things from poking the bottle. So basically I am saying that a polyethelene bottle is OK as far as I know.
Disclaimer: I am not an organic chemist nor do I play one on TV.
I have always used baby nalgenes w/o a problem.

Keepin in the cozy is a great idea. I keep my pot in the cozy, but I bet there's room for the oil bottle too. Thanks.:clap
Baby nalgenes, the white 'cloudy' kind are great, super strong top. Also, may I suggest the bottles sold at Antigravitygear, usually for alchohol. They have a quirt top and it's a very clean way to use it, no need to pour.
Anything that originally held food ( or grape juice ) has got to be food grade plastic, I figure.
i use a sqirt bottle i got from campmor... coughlin's brand. it holds a couple ounces and has one of those flip top squirty things in the screw-on cap... fits inside my pot with my other kitchen stuff. it's great for 2-3 overnights. for longer trips, i'd use a 12 or 20oz soda bottle, depending on length/resupply... as posted earlier, i assume all food quality plastics are ok for other foods...
I use a 8 Oz coke bottle, have had the same one for the last 2 trips, no problems in 250 miles of hiking.
Olive oil rules in on trail food!!
