What kind of stove? There are a number of different designs.

Depends what you're cooking. Try starting just under the hump and go from there.:banana

Mine is the basic design with the single innerwall and 18 or so holes on the side. Im just trying to figure out if my stove is anywhere near as efficient as others. i just tested it by filling to the top of the hump, and let it burn for about 1 min and then set the pot on top, it brought water to a boil in 4 min with a total run time of 5:42 with no windscreen.

HeeHeeDude! These days there's no such thing as a "basic design". How tall is your stove? How many ounces are you filling it with? How much agua? All these questions and more make a huge difference.

Those are pretty good results, it sounds like you have a decent stove. Ambient temperature and wind makes a big difference, try testing the stove outside when the temp is about the same as you would expect on the trail.

I have never tested my stoves in a comparison test because I don't have a way to measure cc's or fluid ounces yet. I think the "actual conditions" test is more important than comparison.

By the way, around here I have found that HEET yellow bottle is cheaper than buying a quart of denatured at Wally World. I think I will stick with HEET, although the guys at the local auto parts store probably think that I drink the stuff :)

i keep my alcohol in a soda bottle. 3 caps full of fuel is about a half ounce, and that's about what it takes to run my stove... i use an ion stove, which is a little more efficient than a regular pepsi can stove... like someone said before, experiment til it works right for you... you can get more 'exact' measurements using a childs medicine syringe, or one of those metered cups from liquid childrens' tylenol/motrin.
