Here's an idea for adding an ultralight D-Ring to the shoulder straps or anywhere else you want it on your pack. No special tools required: only scissors.

Oh wow, I slapped my forehead when I saw this. So simple an idea, and I carry 3 of them when I hike anyway, why i didn't think of it is beyond me.

Thanks!!

Nice idea. I carry several for quick repairs and use them to attach pockets to my pack. There are ones that are made out of velcro which I use for this purpose.

I carry some too and that's how the idea came to me. One day I was hiking with a pack that had nothing on the shoulder straps to attach the thermometer and I wanter to monitor the temp. I pulled out the zip tie and presto!
