Have to add this to the Shelters thread - it's right on the AT at the base of Katahdin.
Southbounders and flip-floppers are not allowed to stay at the Birches Long Distance Hikers Campsite with it's two lean-tos and tent platform. I suggest getting a rez here, for the nights before and after your summit day.

Same as when you were there last.
Lean-to (per person) $10.00
Lean-to minimum $20.00
Tent-site (per person) $10.00
Tent-site minimum $20.00

The fee at the Long Distance hiker site down the tote road is $10 per person.
