For all of those out there demanding mail drop information. Here is the first leg of the trip. To plan any further into Colorado may be jumping the gun as we watch intently the snow pack in the San Juans and the Rockies. Any town ending with the ** will be checked for mail and/or used for our bounce box purposes. Please do not send anything to the unmarked towns. These are to be used by only us for resupply information and we do not want to acquire anything extra at those locations.

Starting trail date estimated 4/10 or 4/11. All dates have been estimated by the 4/10 start.

Palamos, New Mexico 4/10
Columbus, New Mexico 88029 4/10
Deming, New Mexico 88030 4/13**
Silver City, New Mexico 88061 4/17**
Gila Hot Springs, New Mexico 4/20
Apache Creek Store resupply (hitch)
Pie Town, New Mexico 87827 4/28**
Grants, New Mexico 87020 5/3**
Cuba, New Mexico 87013 5/9**
Ghost Ranch 5/12
Chama Mexico 87520 5/17**

Please Note: The towns ending with the ** will be checked for mail drops at the post offices. The other towns are for my own resupply information and DO NOT want boxes or mail sent from the adoring public.

Dates for the remainder of the trip will be posted and emailed accordingly to those interested as the trip proceeds. Any questions please feel frre to email me. I am taking for granted that most of you know how to send a thru hiker mail, if not I will send along directions.

Thanks to everyone for the support

..and cross your fingers that there is no large spring snow dump.

Blister, will you be flipping if the snow is too heavy?

Mags the option is always there, although we are as determined as possible to do this northbound, snowshoes, ice axes, the whole bit.

Also if anyone is interested I am writing once again for Vermont Sports Magazine. I wrote for them on my 2000 AT hike and they have asked me to once again outline my adventure for them. You can google the magazine and get a subscription through the site. My first full article will be in the May edition.

I'm sorry we won't see you on the trail. We're planning a much slower pace, hoping to get to Chama the first week in June. Although snow is light (75%) in the south San Juans - north of Creede it is normal - which means snow until at least mid-June. Being from NH, you have an advantage - I wouldn't want to snowshoe for a month or more.

You are going to have a blast in any case! I printed out your mail drops list, I'll have to add you to my "TO SEND" list for hiker friends. :)

Also..this is rather embarassing, but happens to many of us in thru-hiker circles, I have your "real name' somewhere... but would you mind reminding me. I forgot it. Doh! Don't think I can address a care package to Blister Sister c/o Gen. Delivery! :(

Blister, when did you start your Y2K hike? I wonder if this is the same Blister Sister I met early in April? I think the last time I saw her was at Dicks' Creek Gap, when she was just leaving and I was just arriving. We also spent a really cold night at Blue Mtn Shelter with her and Weatherman rescuing a hiker from the trail whose friends had abandoned.

Yup that was me!!! That was a very cold night at Blue Mtn Shelter! Felt bad for the poor guy that was overweight and soaked in cotton. Hope all is well with you - I am heading out to the cdt in just a couple of days. Happy Hiking
