what is the overall elevation gain/loss on the entire AT

:-? on a hike thru-hike north or south one will climd/descend a total of about 91 miles accordin' ta wingnut! sea level ta everest and back more than 16 times!!. lots of snow in the mahoosucs right now on the ridge. was just there last week. about 3 feet.

combined! heard sumptin like 451,000 feet of elevation gain and loss??? guess you'd hafta do the math.

in maine alone iffin yer nobo it's somewheres around 55,900 fett of up, sobo subtract the elevation gain of katahdin,cause it dern't count goin' sobo!!!

It is an amazing feat (feet too), no doubt, but I don't think you can compare hiking the AT to hiking Everest:
"Dude, I hiked the AT. That's like climbing Mt. Everest 16 times!"

:-? those are wingnuts words,not mine. anywho iffin ya smokes enuf butts along the way you'll have the lack of oxygen, every night yer at base camp, thars enuff gaps to make up the difference for the south col, the hunt trail iz like the hillary step,you'll finish above tree line. c'mon, smoke sum wacky weed and dream alittle!!:jump
