I will be hiking NY sections 9-2 NOBO from Mar 25-27 and am concerned about the lack of listed water sources on the trail.

Section 9 - 5.8 miles - No water.
Section 8 - 5.0 miles - No water.
Section 7 - 7.4 miles - Spigot 200ft east at house at Dennytown Rd.
Section 6 - 7.3 miles - Pump 0.1m at Shendendoah tenting area and Pump at RPH shelter.
Section 5 - 4.8 miles - No water.
Section 4 - 7.2 miles - Well 400ft downhill in front of Morgan Stewart shelter.
Section 3 - 7.4 miles - Unreliable stream at Telephone Pioneers shelter.
Section 2 - 7.1 miles - Pump 0.1m north at Wiley shelter.

This totals 52 miles without a single stream listed as a reliable water source. Are these spigots and pumps available at this time of the year with temps still hovering around freezing? What are my options?

Vipahman--

A year ago I hiked Sections 6-2 (RPH shelter to Bull's Bridge CT)in mid-January. Although temps were cold, 0 d F at night, two much water was more a problem than too little. At one of the shelters, the pump wasn't working but the spring was strong, so no problem. The "unreliable" stream at Telephone Pioneers was a torrent. The walkway through the marsh adjacent to the AT stop on the MetroNorth Harlem train line was partly underwater.

Enjoy your hike,
