i have created my own version of the mini-stove made out of a redbull can (kinda like the one one zenstoves.net)
But, its burning an ounce of alcohol in under 5 minutes. Thats about twice as fast as its supposed to! Any one have any suggestions for my design to make it less fuel consuming?

How many jets did you put in it and how big are they? Is it a sideburner?

If it burns an ounce in 5 minutes, I think it would be more important to know how quickly it boils water. If water boils in 3 minutes, you have a blow torch on your hands!

maybe take a page from Sgt Rock and restrict the flow (or "increase the pressure" by putting a pot more close to the top of the stove. Restricting the flow of air to the stove should slow your burn time considerably.
Also, if you're burning with no pot at all (I don't think you said either way), you might just try putting a pot on there (however you intend to use it [directly on stove, or with a potstand]) and see if time is same.
