How strenuous is the 10 mile AT/BMT "figure 8" near Springer? Is it an easy dayhike or more? Thanks.

From my memory it's not very rigorous from a terrain (ups/downs) standpoint however, unless the BMT is getting a lot more traffic than it used to there are a lot of areas on that loop that get mighty overgrown at times. One thing you might consider is wearing a pair of long pants or high gaters ...or at least having them handy if you hit a patch of overgrown trail. As I recall a lot of the brush includes thistle and it can take quite a toll on your legs.

very easy, briars were starting to come across trail last time I was there, also some blow downs that need removed. That was earlier this year.

It makes for a very nice Day Hike. I've done it several times but never during the peak Thru season. I suggest taking the BMT out to Three Forks and coming back on the AT to avoid the traffic.
