View Full Version : Children’s down sleeping bag?
Does anyone know where I can purchase a children’s down sleeping bag?
There are plenty of synthetic bags for sale but I can't seems to find a lightweight children’s bag. (I guess an adult bag would work but why carry the extra weight.) My boy is nine years old.

Ron Bell of Mountain Laurel Designs (http://www.mountainlaureldesigns.com/index.php) posted on this BPL thread (http://www.backpackinglight.com/cgi-bin/backpackinglight/xdpy/forum_thread/1681/index.html?m=mDHmVPzB6KN1tr8V2U__CEQ) that he plans to have a kids line out by Spring 06. It should be "scaled down versions of the Prophet 30, Superlight Bivy and Devotion bag" that weigh a total of a pound or less.
How light do you want to go? Under 2 lbs? If you can handle 2 or so, the REI Zigzag is light.
As for down, well, buy a woman's model for your kid! It works :) My son sleeps on a ladies pad to save weight.

I think that's the size XS Devotion bag I linked to. Ron, you reading this thread?
might be a bit expensive, but Western Mountaineering makes custom bags... someone was on here a few weeks ago needing a short bag for his wife and mentioned WM as an option. a few others like Marmot and Feathered Friends could probably do it too.
