The White House Landing was one of my favorite stops on the trail! If you do not stop there, you are missing out! My entire family stayed there for a week while i completed my Northbound thru hike in 2008. Bill and his wife helped us in any way they could. I could not explain how kind and courteous they were. The prices they charge are more than worth the value.
All of you cheap people who are bashing these kind folks need to get a life!

It's more than just cheap people. Some of the cheap people don't know or care about the difference between being cheap and being a thief. There are those that will argue that it is ok to be cheap and get whatever you can whenever you can no matter who it will efffect or how it will effect others. As long as you benifit and get what you want you shouldn't have to care about the other guy. Srew them. If you want something and can get it for free, take it.
I wonder how long the horn would blow before it iced up.
A lot of people have tried. That's another thing that gets Bill riled, is if you blow the horn for more than 0.1 seconds.
Sure is funny to get flamed for having hiker's hunger at an AYCE. I guess some of you computer jockies have never been hiking.

It's not funny and you did not get flamed by a computer jockie. You got called out by a fellow hiker who happens to like Bill and Linda and White House Landing. You admitted to making Bill make you pancakes so that you could steal them. You admitted to being a thief and think it's funny. You said you where "..ferreting away pancakes...". Thats stealing. Whats funny is that you think Bill did not notice he was being ripped off by a two bit thief. Here is a guy who has cooked thousands of breakfast for untold numebers of hunters, fisherman, snowmobilers and hikers for over a decade, and you don't think he noticed the guy who brought the bag, sack or whatever to breakfast. This avid hunter and outdoorsman who has operated a camp in the Maine woods for all these years can't tell when someone is robbing him of some pancakes? You got away with it because he most likelydid not deem you worthy of attention or the disruption it would have caused to snag your thieving butt.
And, about the airhorn, why would you have to hit it more than one time for a one second burst? Do you think perhaps everyone on the lake didn't hear the horn? Or, perhaps hitting it more than once or for a prolonged period is your way of saying you are some kind of real important person and someone better come get you quick? Like, "hurry up, I need to come and steal from you".
