View Full Version : Help with extra material
I am looking for some ideas. I took the sleeves off of a wicking shirt I bought. It is a med. shirt and had long sleeves. It is a good polyester material so I didn't want to chunk the sleeves. But now I can't decided what I want to do with the material. Any help would be much appreciated. :datz

Summer weight gaiters. May not be durable, though.

maybe some thin mittens. or maybe slip around the legs in the morning, leg warmers:rolleyes:.
If you figure, you have 2 pcs 28-34" length and 8-10" wide( seams removed) of material. You could make a few items or one good one. Roughly max material is 2pcs 34"x 10" or 34"x 20" piece.
Best to measure material then plan from there.

if they are the right size, then if you sew them together right, you could make some boxer shorts

I bet you could get at least four good thongs out of them...maybe more, depending.
You could sew them together into a scarf. Maybe sew the cuffs together, then hem the shoulders. The shoulder end may be big enough to put over your head like a cap, then wrap the rest around like a scarf. Ok, maybe not...just sew the shoulders together. But I bet it would make a nice shoulder-season scarf, when it's nippy but too warm for a fleece scarf or balaclava.
It would be a pretty good snake warmer, too - if you happen adopt one for a pet along the way.
Actually, Jeff, snakes being cold-blooded... Never mind. Too funny for me to try and ruin! Good one!

Ok, fine. An elephant trunk warmer. In case you find an elephant on the AT. And he has a cold trunk. Never know. :p
