Two thru hikers need a ride from Atlanta to Amicola..or if we can change our tickets to gainesville,from there to Amicola..going to call amtrack today to check on this..we will be in GA. this sunday am.the 30th of april..
low on funds,though willing to go halfs on gas if your allready heading that way .

If you're coming from NY then you will get to G'ville before Atlanta. There are usually several cabs hanging around that will take you up there.

I'm going to be in Gainesville May 1st, coming in on the morning Greyhound, if you want to split cabfare.
Does any one have an idea of what a cab would cost from gainesville to Amicola?how far is it away?
I called amtrack and we can get off the train before Atlanta!
We may be interested in spliting the cost 3 ways.thank you:) .though I am unsure if my second half will want to spend an extra day waiting?we will be there on the 30th!

Check with Profile at the hikerhostel.com. He does shuttles and is a great person to meet. The last time I came into Gainesville, seems like the cab ride was about $50 to the park. That was several years ago however. It is a fairly long ride, probably an hour or so I'd guess.
Do you know what time you will be in gainesville? I may possibly be able to give a ride depending on my schedule and time that you arrive.

I'm in Atlanta - actually Decatur - but should the need arise, I might be available to shuttle a few intrepid folks as an excuse to get back up to the mountains.

Larger groups would work better than smaller at 3.00 a gallon. I have a large truck that seats seven in the cab and can hold full gear for at least that many. I think the record was 18 day hikers...
Frond, I'm sorry I don't think that I'm going to be able to do that I found out that I have to be in gainesville at 8am and the time might possibly change again(sorry soccer league can't make it's mind up about game times) so I wouldn't be able to make it back to gainesville in time. If you can't find anyone PM me on Friday and I will give you my cell # and we could work something out.
Azaria and frond will probably not be in gainsville until 8 am...we will probably keep our eyes and ears open and see if any others will be heading to amicalo at that time..will check this forum once again on friday....thank you everyone for being available/possibly available..
