I have come down with a case of poison ivy from being in the woods this past weekend. Right now it is just 2 stips on my leg. I usually use benydrel lotion but that does not seem to be working. What do all of you use?

Pacific Tortuga 04-25-2006, 18:55 Forgotten Medical Cures says to try Preperation-H, it beats urinating on it like for stings and ear pain which it cliams works great. P-H is said to dry up the blisters , never tried it but if you do let us know if it worked. g8trh8tr 04-25-2006, 20:19 I use Tecnu and it works really well for me on poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac. I get it often when hiking and Tecnu dries it up quickly and keeps it from spreading. Green Bean 04-25-2006, 20:20 dont itch!!! fishinfred 04-25-2006, 20:29 Too late now but when I think Ive been into it I will use my denatured alcohol (or any type solvent) This breaks down the oil .If near home (which usually isnt the case ) Dawn (grease cutting) Dishsoap works good too and when its too late for that .... get a big bottle of calomine lotion..... and don't scratch! Fishinfred Tha Wookie 04-26-2006, 07:54 Use Zanfel. Trust me, there is NOTHING as effective after you've gotten the rash. It is expensive, but well worth it. This compound is probably the best OTC to decrease the intensity of the allergic reaction. Nasty stuff, that ivy. The last time I got it, I itched for a month- even after the rash had gone away. |
