Sleeping bag liner

I want to make a silk sleeping bag liner. I use a mummy bag I got from Sportsmans Guide. Do I put a zipper on the thing or just make one big human sock. I sleep in a hammock, would getting into the liner then the bag be a problem. Advise Please!!!

I tried one in my hammock and it wasn't too big of a hassle. Once I was inside I just lifted my legs and pulled it up to my waist, then sat up and pulled it the rest of the way on. I used a commercial one called "The Cocoon". Bigger problem was getting if off gracefully to answer nature's call during the night.
