I was wondering if any body has used the MSR fling, and had any commeents on the tent. I also wonder if you could use it for three people. I know it might be tight, but it might be feasible? Any links to reviews or comments on the tent would be aprecciated.
Crispi72,
Don't know if you saw this one or not, but here is a review from Irritable Badger posted about a month or two ago http://www.whiteblaze.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13330. I purchased on (based partially on the review and partially from a 20% off coupon from REI burning a hole in my pocket), but haven't set it up yet. Right now I'm thinking that I will likely return it and get a Double Rainbow instead.

I purchased a Fling last month when American Airlines lost my 2004 Henry Shires Squall. I've spent three nights in the Fling. I believe the Fling measures about 10% less in length and width than did the Squall, but the volume of my 2006 Fling compared to the 2004 Squall seems bigger. This is because the Fling uses a hoop across the front, as well as the back. My 2004 Squall used a pole at the center front. The font hoop raises the sidewalls and (IMHO) gives a feeling of more space. Henry's 2006 Squall incorporates a horizontal strut across the front that looks like it gives the newer Squall more volune than mine had. The Fling looks lot lilke Henery's Cloudburst. I'm a solo person and I lilke space, so I have the two person Fling. It could easily sleep two, but most of their gear would have to go outside. Three people? How friendly do you want to be? I did not carry the Fling's top rod and still found the tent had acceptable headroom. There just happens to be a Fling (mine) for sale in the for gear sale forum. (Do I have to pay for advertising here?) I have a lengthier description of the Fling and comparison with my Squall that I'd be happy to send by email or PM. Bob
