My father and I are planning a section hike sometime in August from Rte 2 in Mass (just north of Greylock) to Rte 4 in Vermont (near Rutland and Killington.) Ideally, we'd like to leave a vehicle near Rte 2 and find transportation back when we are done. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I looked into Greyhound, but according to their schedule it would be a 10+ hour trip.

Check out the parking suggestions and shuttle list (http://www.appalachiantrail.org/site/c.jkLXJ8MQKtH/b.806835/k.10F4/Getting_to_the_Trail.htm) on the Appalachian Trail Conservancy website. You can arrange for a shuttle to pick you up at the end of your hike at a cost of about $2 per mile to return to you to your car.

Scott--
Keep me posted regarding your dates in August. There's a good chance I can shuttle you guys up to Rt 4.

The Saddleback Trading Post in North Adams has also offered shuttles. 413-664-2772.

For parking in Mass at Rt 2, the Greylock Community Club offers hikers parking at the back of their lot. The lot is lit and in a high activity area. They request a small donation. 413-664-9020.
