I'm planning on getting some brown/khaki polyester fabric and making myself a pair of zip off pants, and perhaps tie die them so they are more a camo pattern.
I'm really tempted to make the whole thing up myself, but I know pants can be tricky. any free patterns? Should I just ask if the fabric store sells patterns? (spotlight) they should, right?
Any tips/tricks?
thanks!

oh yeah- female. :)
How hard is it to put those cool above the knee pockets? (because when you've got a hip belt on, it's tough to get into hip pockets. )

I use a pattern for female shorts (http://www.kwiksew.com/Patterns/P3298_3319/3314.cfm) in my size for the top part and the legs from this men's pattern (http://www.kwiksew.com/Patterns/P2814_2839/2820.cfm) for the legs. Just be sure the bottom of the shorts and the top of the legs match! You have to make the shorts a little longer than the female pattern calls for - a zipper where they stop would be darned uncomfortable. I use the men's pattern for the male dino and leave off the funky pockets.
