"2,159-mile Appalachian Trail" So much for up-to-date fact checking.

Yea, 'The Big Time'....

Well, lookie here. Damascus makes the big time....Damn, the 'Times, They Are A Changin'....to quote an old friend, Bobby D. With all those 'Hiker Friendly' aversions they have there now, and with the size of 'Trail Days' ('takes over the whole town'), I'd expect to see some kind of 'Hiker Amusement Theme Park' strike up there, with 'Hiker Rides' (take the 'flume' down Katahdin, etc.)....LOL....and Hiker Food, like '25 Mile Burgers' and 'Hungry Hiker Ice Cream Cones'....'Bandana On A Stick', and other nifty tourist trappings....The Outfitters (How Many Are There, Now 1/2 dozen) could sell 'day gear' that you used one night and threw away, after....They could set up a 'Tent Hotel' for wayward tourist who couldn't reserve a bed at 'The Place'....Ho Hummn....So much for 'The Greater Damascus Chamber of Tourism and Hospitality'....We can nominate 'Wolf' to be chairperson....LOL....Have A Nice Day.....KZ@

in a previous post i mentioned about a forest service campground 7 miles from town.not sure what the name is,but i think its like 10 to 15 bucks a night?a good option if the campground fills up?if ya dont mind the 14 mile round trip every day back and forth.
anybody else have info on this place?

where will folks camp when the campground runs out of space?I stayed in the overflow lot across the street from the main campground last year. I don't remember it filling all the way up.

We'll just have to make sure that every tent is full to capacity.

I had no idea trail days had gotten so big. I haven't been since 1990. There were maybe a dozen tents set up at the Place. It sounds so insane, I think I'll limit my visits to Damascus to the off season. But have fun if you're going!!!
