Was wondering if anyone had any input on the parking situation near the Furnace Creek Camp site. My Keystone Trail Ass. map has a lot marked on the west side of reservoir road opposite of the camp site. Is parking permitted? Is it free? Is it a friendly lot? Heading out this weekend. Thanks in advance.

You can park for free at the Hamburg Reservoir lot, which is at the end of Reservoir Road. Parking for at least a dozen cars. I've never parked there overnight, but I assume it's permitted.
From there, it's about a 1/2 mile hike up the gravel road to the AT. Check out the Pinnacle if you haven't already.
I don't get down there more than twice a year, so I don't know if there are any vandalism issues currently.
Yes, you can park at the reservoir lot overnight, but you have to register with the local police. Otherwise I believe you get a ticket. I haven't heard of any vandalism at this lot in a long time.

yeah i did that last year.. called the city of hamburg beforehand to tell them that my car will be there for a few nights.
