Anyone made one of these packs? Are they good? Are there any reviews online?

i've heard good things about the G4/G6, but they're light packs for light loads. i use a gust to which i've added water/fuel bottle pockets and an elastic area for my tarp. it's well made, durable, light, was relatively cheap, and works well for me. if golite made something else i thought would work, i'd not hesitate to try it.

Why would you give up on a great design simply because of bureaucracy? Whatever really transpired between Ray and Golite changes nothing about the functionality of his packs. I would say put that aside and compare the G-4 and Jardine pack on an objective level. Politics has nothing to do with it.

From reading the factual source documents presented, I don't see a spec of bureaucreacy, politics, or bad behavior on GoLite's part, and I am saying that as a CPA who has had too many experiences with the drama of the lesser angels of our nature in business. I for one am very happy with their products...very well made.

Just curious, did you read Ray's version on his site?

Also, did you see his tandem bike story on there about his ride back and forth across the US with Jenny, his wife?

I have one of Ray's pack kits, but have still not sewn it together, since the one I bought for the AT (when Go-lite's Chinese manufacturing source put the design together) is actually still quite useful, despite my repair needed for faulty seaming on the shoulder straps. I have made other things of his design from his kits, and each has been of far greater quality than what I have used from Go-lite, since I made them myself ;)

The knife kit was my favorite to make. When I hold it in my hand it's an extension of me.
