because tomorrow is too late. We are leaving in the AM for SNP and came up 1 hammock short. Seems nobody wants to sleep in the tent. So I got some WM fabric and made a hammock. I read about whipping the ends and letting it sag, but it always has a really tight centerline (not the ridge line, but the center line of the hammock). Its so bad I will roll off the center to either side. Laying on the diagonal doesn't help much.

It's really good except for the hammock center line being so tight. I have tried different ways and patterns to gather the ends, but something is still wrong.

Since I'm the one using the home made hammock, this is serious. Any suggestions (no, I don't have time or $$$ to visit REI and I promised my HH to another hiker:datz ) would be really appreciated.

try a ridge line to take some of the tension out of the fabric

This is from Just Jeff's site on how to whip a hammock. http://www.tothewoods.net/HammockWhipping.html

Oh simply use the knot...it is bullkier but a whole lot easier!
