Me too. Had to buy my daughter (12) one too, because she was always in mine. She hasn't quite gotten the "figure 8" lashing down pat, but she's figured out how to put it up so that it won't come down with her in it.

I keep trying to talk my wife into trying it. She swears her bad back couldn't take it - no matter how many bad back fixed by hammock stories there are out there.

Rock I have the same problem. I think I have found a solution. My wife is in town now looking for my birthday present (a new shinny hammock stand). I don't have two trees to close together. I wanted to get a portable one but I can make that for the price they want. I think once I get the stand and I have a KAQ coming, then and maybe only then will I get the little woman to try a night in my HH.

SGT Rock - perhaps have your wife call Calm Spirits, refrigerator's wife - she is a complete convert to hammocks and won't camp any other way now because it helps her back so much - email refrigerator via the user list for their number

You could light a fire under the Jetboil and have a nice, cozy evening together. :)

Neo, I hope this doesn't drive you over the edge but, I hear she wears camo panties. ;)

I'm also a new female hammocker. I'd spent many nights in a hammock when I worked at a summer camp but never thought to do it backpacking until recently when I was researching new tents. I ended up getting one of hennessy's new hyperlights. Its great! I sleep so much better in it. I'm currently saving for JRB's 3 season set so I don't have to do a pad for insulation, which was the only part of hammocking I didn't like.

I must report I am living a double life!! :(

Yet I will be packing my Byer Hammock because its just 16 ounces
for the JMT.
I just know I will find some trees here and there.

Welcome to all the new hammock hangers!

It's not the hammock I don't want to try. Besides if I started backpacking you'd lose your trail angel dear. :p

Dixiecritter, turn about is fair play... If you start hiking, Rock can learn the joys of being a trail angel :D

I had to get a hammock stand b/c my wife wouldn't let me put a homemade one in the sunroom. Guess she found out I'm not much of a carpenter! But she's ok with the one I bought - not excited, but she allows it. And portable is nice so I can take it to the drive-in movies!

I still can't get her to sleep in it, though! Grrrr... Maybe if I bribe her with a day at the spa or something.

I think it would be good for us both :D

I can and have done the trail angel bit.

Now we just need to convince her to do the backpacker bit :p

I think I have solved this problem. Told my wife my birthday wish is for her to sleep one night in my hammock. She asked me where I would be. Well of course I said in the house cause she is in my hammock. Yeah, well now the night she sleeps in my hammock I have to sleep under her....( I just can't say it......) on the ground........ Okay now that I'm off the floor from passing out, if it gets her in for the night just to see what I'm raving about ,I'm okay for ONE night on the ground I guess.

Looks like there are several of us out here Neo. I've got the HH A-sym with a McCat Tarp and love it, also have a couple of Byers - the regular one and the mosquito one. I love hanging around outdoors :-)
