i want to take my wife on a day hike to buzzard rock/white top moutain coming from the south.
anyone know where the trail head is? How do i get there from I-81?

Your best bet is to get to Damascus and go from there. I seem to remember that you go East on Rt.58, then to Rt. 600, and then take Forest Service road 89 directly to the Summit of Whitetop, but you might want to check this first. Either the very friendly folks at Mt. Rogers Outfitters in Damascus can help you, or you might want to send a Private Message to L.Wolf here at Whiteblaze, as he lives nearby and knows the mountain very well.

Jack has the info correct. Follow his instructions. Exit 19 off I-81 N. Follow Hwy. 58.

Can i get to VA600 from 81? You guys know what exit that is?

i'm driving from blacksburg. so i'm thinking I-81 South, exit VA16, VA603, VA600 to Elk Garden. Does that sound correct?
Going all the way down to 58 would be a big loop for me.
