There are two places you can park. There is a game commission parking lot, not sure how secure it would be to leave it there overnight. There is also a restaraunt across the street that sometimes allows hikers to leave their cars. Make sure you ask permission first.

We've left our vehicle at the game commission parking lot for a short section hike there about a month ago without problem--no guarantees, obviously, but there seemed to be a few other cars there as well.

I've parked at the Restaurant parking twice with out a problem. Each time that we have dropped a car off it was late at night the night before our hike so was never able to ask permission. I think on the rohland site though it states that parking is allowed. It's a big lot. Here's the link http://appalachiantrail.rohland.org/

If parking on private property, I would think it common courtesty to ask permission. As I recall, it's a large lot, but parking there at all or in a particular spot may not be welcome anymore or on a particular day. Best to ask first or better yet call ahead.;)

ALWAYS ask before parking on private property, unless you know fer sure that it's OK. Several folks this year left their cars briefly in the Food Co-Op lot in Hanover while they section hiked. This proved to be a very expensive thing to do.

In my experience, the folks at the restaurant on 309 have been gracious and hiker-friendly.
