View Full Version : New uses for bear canisters
I just got back from an 8 day hike with three other women from Tuolumne Meadows to Agnew meadows. Along the way we discovered a bear cannister is great for washing clothes and taking a bath! It is nice and big, unlike trying to wash from a pot or ziplock bag. Set it in the sun and it even heats the water. We were in hiker heaven.:sun

Sun Shower is amazing. I've used one at 10,500' in the Wind Rivers in early September, and there's still enough sunshine to heat it to a nice, warm temp, even in daylight temps barely reaching the 50s...
Thanks for the tip. Next time I'm required to have one, I won't hate it quite as much. I'll still hate it mind you. Just not quite as much. :rolleyes: speedy
I started carrying a bear canister mainly to have something to sit on - it was also nice not to have any problems with the minibears.
