Hiking from Newfound Gap to Davenport Gap and have been advised not to park at Davenport Gap. Mtn. Mama did allow parking at her place for a fee. Is this still the case?. Also looking for shuttle service near Davenport Gap to haul two to four hikers to Newfound Gap, any recommendations?.

There's a hostel with safe park about 1 mile north of I-40 at Davenport Gap - Standing Bear Hostel (http://standingbearfarm.tripod.com/)

Curtis, the owner of the "SBH" also does shuttles at a reasonable price. I parked at the ranger station parking lot (near Mountain Momma's) and walked up the side trail (Chesnut Ridge Trail?) to connect with the AT. Also saw my one and only bear on this side trail, after 1000+ miles of hiking!
