Just got back from hiking from Brown Gap to Rockfish Gap with my youngest son. It was a good trip of 25 miles (25-27 April). Met some interesting thru hikers on their way to Maine. Trail was in good shape only a few blow downs. We are looking forward to going back.

Jack, were any of the blowdowns particularly nasty - ie crawl unders, climb overs, or walkarounds? If so do you remember roughly where they were?

The only one I remember that was particularly nasty was just north of Black rock hut (about 1/2 mile). However, it is no more because on our first day (25 April) I helped one of the trail maintainers clear that one away.

Thanks, good to hear that the official trail maintainers are clearing the blowdowns off the trail - sometimes they need to be assisted by unofficial trail maintainers.
