I really don't see anything wrong here. They are just wanting some interaction and maybe some pics. As you said, links like this are not frowned upon. I have seen some commercial posts slide by but they are from long time or active members of this site. I guess it is a judgement call.

I took a look and don't like www.mtbums.com. However, I don't mind their post and link to their site; I believe such exchanges enrich whiteblaze.net.

Yes, it isn't the sort of site I am interested in. But that is just personal taste.
I know there some mountain bums in these here parts of the Appalachians.........

I'm glad they changed the home page a bit. When I first went to the site, the link of the couple kissing took me to a graphic movie :eek: and nearly fried my pacemaker.

Im sorry if anyone was affended that I posted the website. I was not trying to spam only attempt to build a community of mt bums that I know are out there and don't have a forum to share at.
I did 700 miles of the AT this past spring, most of it with rainmaker. I had to get off to some unfortunate family news. once again im sorry. I didn't think it was a big deal.
All the best, looks like ill be heading to do the pct where people are a little friendlier.

Hey MtnBum - I guess I started it since my post was first. I wasn't trying to be unfriendly, and there are many opinions on what spam is. I thought that since you've never participated on this site before, and your first (and at that time only) post was solely to drive traffic to your website, it was spam. Try participating a bit if you want a community.
But I'm not a mod or anything, and that's just my opinion and nothing more. Please don't leave yet - stick around and participate before you make up your mind.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with MntBums website. Don't like it, don't click and please don't speak for everyone.
