Just got back from a day hike with my newly purchased gg vt. I reccomend this pack to anyone looking for a light weight pack. Not really a great day pack, but i suspect it would feal better.(the water bottles and some food sunk to the bottom of the pack and felt un-balanced) Overall its a great pack.

Once you take it out on a few trips and figure out the best way to pack it with your specfiic gear, you'll love it. It's the only pack I use now. The rest of my packs are collecting dust in the gear closet.

I am glad I purchased the ultralight lid for my VT. I like to have at least one place where small items are handy.

I am glad I purchased the ultralight lid for my VT. I like to have at least one place where small items are handy.

I've got the Latitude version and would agree that the VT not an ideal daypack in terms of how it carries a small load. On the other hand, its light enough to be used that way and the hip belt comes off which I find allows the shoulder straps to be tightened a bit more which helps by pulling the pack up some so the weight is not all on your lumbar (hip belt rides too high when doing this so its nice that the hip belt comes off so easily). If you don't use the side pockets for your water bottle, the bottom can be compressed down, too. Use the outside pocket for hydration which helps give the pack some rigidity, and after all that, the pack works just fine as a daypack.

p.s. Phreak: I'm glad you bought the lid, too!

o.O maybe i should buy the lid....you put any thing small in it and it finds its way down to the bottom.
