Oct 16 2006 - At least closed to parking. Looks like they are improving AL 77. They have logged a wide swath along the highway and posted "closed" signs for the trailhead. The logging (and future construction?) takes all of the gravel road that connects the highway and the parking area.
No idea how long the construction will take, but mid Oct 2006 they are just beginning.
I'm planning a thru hike of the Alabama Trail for November and thought I would go over and recon the trailheads first - good thing I did. Can't park a car at the southern end for awhile.
