I have been taking a hammock to sleep in over the last couple of years, both backpacking and kayak camping. I hang a double Eagles Nest and simply use 5mm line to tie to trees, usually just wrapping a time or two around the tree and then use a loop and a biner to secure to the hammock heck, I've have even used a tautline hitch on occasion.
I have never fallen (yet), it doesn't seem to be harming the trees (yet), but I think that a webbing system could be more effective. Am I right in thinking you secure the webbing (somehow) to the tree and then tie the hammock line to the webbing?
Help here please folks, I love sleeping in the hammock, I've had a couple of vertebrae and sleeping in a hammock is primo!
My weight is probably more than it should be but since I usually stay out only a max of 7 days, it's no biggie for me, most trips are 3-4 nights and when kayak camping, weight is not a concern.
Tips? Advice? Knots?
Thanks,
Bobby
