During the Thanksgiving break I hike about 15 miles roundtrip from Newfound Gap south to Clingman's Dome and back. How does this compare to the rest of the trail? Was that a typical climb? It seemed moderately difficult. Most of my hikink experience is in the lowcountry of the south so I am interested in knowing how the Clingman's Dome hike would stack up. Thanks for your imput.

Scale of 1-10, 1 being easy and 10 being tough, it's about a 5.

I'd rate it easy to moderate - certainly not nearly as difficult as Fontana Dam to the GSMNP or Davenport to GSMNP or north GA to NOC> I'm not that familiar with the trail up north so I'll let those who are describe it.
