I just want to pass along some new info. The new Aether 60 is improved. I returned my Aether 70 as it weighed 10 ounces more. Nice for room but totally unnecessary for the AT.
The straps and the clasps on the 60 seem to be better engineered and overall it feels as good or more comfortable. I was "kindly persuaded" by a fellow hiker or two that I would be happier. WOO HOO!!!!
Can't wait to take it out and enjoy it.

I have a three year old Aether 60 with a couple hundred miles on it. Its still good as new and I love that pack. I think is 8 or 9 ounces lighter than the "improved" version. I believe there have been two redesigns since I bought mine, and I never could see what needed to be changed. Sometimes improvements only mean the company wants you to toss out your old gear and buy the newer version.

Hey Stickman.
I like the 60 as well as the 70. As far as weight, the 60 for the last 5 years has weighed the same...3# 15 oz. for the medium and 4# 9 oz. for the 70(med) Like an ol' pair of jeans, I will wear them until there is no more!

I completed a thru hike this past year and went the whole way with the aether 60, and it still looks like new! It was an amazingly comfortable, versitile, and tough pack. Its no ultralighter, but when you remove the top pack and trim straps, the weight isnt really a concern. I would recommend this pack to anyone.
