Who knows who knows some links where I can find some detailed info (distances, elevations, water locations, shelters, etc) on the AT below Pearisburg?
Happy New Year Hikesters!

Try the On-Line Thru-Hiker's Companion 2006, which you'll find at www.aldha.org It contains info of this sort for the entire Trail.

Been drinking your bath water, Wolf? What did you mean to say?

The brand new 2007 edition of this book has just been published.

You can find it for sale at the "Ultimate Trail Store" section of the ATC website, which is at www.appalachiantrail.org This is also the place to buy the Virginia maps that you might want for your trip. The Southwest Virginia Guidebook and maps combined costs around twenty bucks (less if you're an ATC member; or individual maps can be bought for about six dollars each).

Lone Wolf meant that he knows this section really really well (he lives in SW Virginia) and if you have any questions at all regarding your trip, if you need a shuttle, info on where to leave a vehicle, or anything else, you should get in touch with him. He can be a very great resource in this neck of the woods. Best way to reach him is via a Private Message here at Whiteblaze.

Gotcha. I didn't understand at first what "PM" meant. I take it the Wolf is a man of few words. The best woodsmen always are, but I appreciate the help from his mouthpiece in New Hampshire.

My only experience on the AT is from Catwaba south to Pearisburg. On that trip I learned enough to come back and buy a better sleeping pad.

Hs is indeed a man of pith.

And I'm not his mouthpiece. Interpreter, maybe, but not mouthpiece. Anyway, keep us in mind as you plan your trip; anything comes up that you need a hand with, send it along.

Thanks for the generosity, gents. As I plan my little spring walk, I'll probably take you up on your offers. Best wishes in 2007 which I see it almost is back East.
