Just read this on their web site....No dates mentioned, so I'll just pass it along anyway...(as if ya need a bridge)..:D..
Notice to Appalachian Trail hikers:
Two bridges along the AT in this area are not passable.
The bridge over Laurel Creek south of Bland--northbound hikers should take the following detour in high water conditions: At Laurel Creek, follow the blue blazed trail for about 1/4 mile until it comes to VA Route 16; turn right and walk 1/4 mile on the road. Then look for the AT in the woods on your left. Southbound hikers do the opposite.
The bridge across Stoney Creek, AT North of Pine Swamp Trailhead--northbound hikers should take the following detour in high water conditions: Exit the AT at Pine Swamp Trailhead and go left on SR 635 for 1 ½ miles to where the AT crosses the road. Southbound hikers do the opposite.
