Anyone have recipes for good trail food bars that are savory, not sweet, and are fairly complete nutrition?
Seems such a thing would be handy on a through hike.
I'm thinking cheese, grains, powdered milk, nuts, seeds, etc., along those lines.

You have my mind wandering......what would be really good would be a dense bread/bar with lots of cheese :D

Yup, I'm thinking maybe a base of v-8 juice (surprise, surprise) and then whole wheat flour, nutritional yeast, sesame seeds, oil, grated cheese or soy cheese, grated carrot, etc. Sort of depends on how hot the weather is, there could be less-easily-spoiled variations for then. Cool weather, anything goes. I'll work on this and check back in.

Not a recipe, but these I highly recommend, they offer vegan bars too.

I am wondering if it wouldnt be better to use a rice base with beans to make the bars and then fold in your wants, such as cheese, onions, hot peppers, etc.
