... and by 'animal', I really mean 'me'. I'll be dragging my 300 pound frame to the trail to begin my thru hike on or about April 15. Much like a tractor trailer, you probably don't want to be behind me on the up slopes or in front of me on the down slopes. :-)

I look forward to learning more from you guys here and seeing you out there!

I will be a couple of weeks ahead of you. I hope to leave before the end of March. NOBO. I wish us both health, safety and success.

Thanks WW, same to you! Hopefully I'll see you somewhere along the trail -- I'll be trudging along the best I can and don't expect to have the luxury of many zero days.

Big Cat, my hat is off to you for living your dreams instead using your weight as an excuse not to do so. I will be praying and cheering for you. Please take it slow at first and keep us posted on your progress.

If it looks as though you will not make the Big K before it closes, you can always go to Maine and hike south before Baxter closes. That is called a 'flip-flop thru-hike' and many people do this every year.

Again, I have great respect and admiration for you because of your decision to the live your dreams instead of allowing life to steal them from you.

Wow guys, thanks for all the support. I'm really looking forward getting down to Georgia to start putting one foot in front of the other.

Go for it Big Cat. By the time you hit Maine, that 300# frame will be a lean and mean 225 :banana
