Bag is 81 inches long and youre 76 inches so you would probaly be ok with it. Why you want to get some heavy thing like that though?

If I may, let me make a suggestion. I'm 6'3" 285 lbs, 52" jacket size. Last year, I must have crawled into 20 different sleeping bags looking for one that I was comfortable in, which to me meant one that I could easily flip over in(from back to belly) without the bag flipping with me. The bad news is that there's not much for us XXLer's to choose from. The good news is the Golite Doze 20 degree in Wide/Long. It's down, 3lbs 3oz, compacts well, is very well made, true to it's temperature rating, and very comfy. It's $200, but it's money well spent. Check it out.

coulda sworn I already posted this to your request, In fact I did - Another exactly identical thread .....hmmmmmmm.......
anyways, I used to be a body builder and am still pretty big with a 56" chest and 18" arms (let's not talk about the gut :))
.
at 290 lbs, unless you have a big ass and tiny chest/arms, in a 31" (62" circum) bag you won't have enough space to bend your arms to zip it up.
You really need either the Marmot Sawtooth X-Wide or the Montbell (http://www.argear.com/gear/grmontbellulssdownhugger2-sleepingbag.html) which is phenominal. I have each and they are wonderful - both have their merits, but I like the montbell better - especially for a lifetime of use.

Beware of the term "military style." That's double talk for "junk" is many cases.

I have the actual military sleeping system you are referring to. It is a great sleeping bag system but I personally think it is to heavy to hike with even if you take only a part of the system.

they also sell sleeping bag extensions. its just a piece of sleeping bag that is about 8 inches wide with zippers on each side, and you just zip that in instead of zipping up the regualar zipper. i know north face makes a nice one that fits most bags.
