Anyone know the status of the restaurant located on Rt 17 in NY 2 mi E of AT at the entrance to HSP? I heard it was closed. Are the 2007 guidebooks updated?

http://www.nyjournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070209/NEWS03/702090383/1017 found on a Google search.......First time I was there was in 1956 I was eleven, right across the road and up the mtn was a BSA camp (now closed) it was the first place that I had ever hiked to and camped. Every few years I hike up there and camp hike down to RAR and have b'fast.

It is closed and boarded up. The Times Herald Record had a good piece on it recently as a historical article: a then and now feature, I believe.

I spent many an evening there as we worked and strategized to protect Sterling Forest from development. I'm sorry to see that it closed. It had definitely seen better days however.

There is a good deli in the same area however. If you turned east at Orange Turnpike and walked down the road, you'd hit the deli and pass an old Iron Furnace in the process.
