I am in the process of creating one of the original tarptents but i need 2 aluminum poles one 40" and one 20" were can i get these w/o breaking the bank?

You can get the front pole from Henry for $5.00. Shoot him an email. He might sell you the other one too.

I have been known to buy pup tents from Goodwill or the Salvation Army and use the poles, zippers, hardware and sometimes fabric (it is usually not in good shape though) in homemade projects.

I some times do the same as Frolicking but most of the poles are Antique Aluminum A-frame stuff( section by section), we here on the west coast most the east coast leftovers.

As for new poles or any other material, you can go here if you are a do-it- yourself person.

I use my trekking pole for the front one, and made my own rear pole out of an arrow shaft.

I tarped while doing a thru and always found a place to attach my tarp. I have done at times as jonnycat suggests. It works. Are you not worried about getting a hernia by carrying dedicated tent poles? :-? ninety eight cans of beer on the wall:banana:banana:banana
