Thank you again Veteran. I added this to our articles section. TomScanlan 04-09-2007, 14:07 Very nice! Whistler 04-09-2007, 14:20 Pretty cool. Here's another excellent AT/ Google Maps combo (http://www.sophiaknows.com/atdb/gmap5.html) from the excellent Appalachian Trail Database (http://www.sophiaknows.com/atdb/index.html). That one maps the towns/POs and major landmarks as well as the shelters, and the pop-up balloons are a bit more informative. I can't believe all the work that went into both of those maps. Pretty remarkable. -Mark 1azarus 04-09-2007, 15:22 ... yes, spectacular maps. sure would love to see the trail... is that dreaming? oshkoshbjosh123 09-06-2008, 15:22 Here's another google map that automatically adjusts trail detail and visible shelters as the user zooms in and out. Very useful for finding road crossings. http://www.fivemillionsteps.com/trailmap.php brianos 09-06-2008, 19:04 Wow, that's very nice! Love the overlay options between topo/terrain/etc. Any idea what data defines the path of the trail (e.g. GPS coordinates from an actual hike)? oshkoshbjosh123 09-06-2008, 20:56 I found GPS coordinates on various other websites. I just put all the coordinates together and put them in the right order. Let me know if you think of any other features that would be useful. attroll 09-06-2008, 22:22 I found GPS coordinates on various other websites. Do you think I could get a copy of the kmz file from you? Homer&Marje 09-06-2008, 22:56 That is incredible.... good job, will definitely save that link Chenango 10-31-2008, 16:57 WTG - Great maps.
