Ray Jardine on Everest. I don't know if he's planning on climbing it but it's good reading anyway.

I don't have time to read all of that. But if he is doing it "his way", he's more nuts than I though; maybe he'll get his own tombstone up there. Regardless, best of luck.

Take it easy, man.
It's a short article describing Everest base camp and general morale. It sounded as if it was transcribed from a phone conversation.
There were no earth-shattering revelations. Ray way is just a marketing phrase.

That page of the article states he is in a tent, not his tarp set-up; probably not using his quilt, but with the finest 900 goose down mummy bag. I would venture to guess that he is most likely doing it the way the sherpas/others suggest he do it.:-? And, yes, best of luck to him.

Ray always does it his way. It doesn't matter if he's sleeping in a motel 6 wearing K mart bunny slippers. He's a strange and wonderful person who does inspiring things. Don't get too hung up on the term or his gear.
You can hit the back buttons on his site and read the whole trek thus far. I'm not sure if he's going to climb it or if its just a "trek."
I'm interested, to say the least.

Ditto, as far as the interest goes. And your right, he is probably doing it his way. But, I'm sure he has incorporated the sage widom of others, along with his-way.:D

You're right... on one page he receives a lesson from a monk. That's the Ray Way: let go of the preconceived notions and be aware of information. He does what he does to recharge the batteries.
Anyway, enjoy the reading.

He's just another backpacker doing his own thing. No better or wost than any other hiker.
