Tendenitious in my right knee and left ankle has me back in Syracuse. The hitch from Hot Springs was almost a thru in itself.I hitch hiked through all weather the Nor'easter had!Pa around Scranton was the worst.Horizontal soggy snow blasted by 40 mph wind walking uphill and my fully soaked 50lb pack. The folks around there dont hike so all thought I was some homeless vagrant, trying to splash puddles at me for fun.worst day of my life. As soon as I heal up I'll get back to Hot springs and take up where I left.I wanted to just go the whole way without a break but this 49 yr. old body says uh nah.So a woohoo REBELWHINE untill I heal Oh yeah,if anyone sees Hoosier tell I say Duh uh,He will know what I mean...... REBELYELL!

I messed up my knee in the climb up Shuckstack about two weeks ago and am home resting it, so I know what you are going through. I just got my plane tickets and shuttle lined up to head back to Fontana on Friday - can't wait to get back on the trail again.

At least I missed all that cold and crappy weather that ya'll went through!

Take your time and heal up - the trail ain't going anywhere....

The key word here, I think is 50 pound backpack while your home Rebel do a shakedown on that thing and lose some of that weight.

I agree, but everyone has to hike their own hike. If he feels 50lbs is what works then 50lbs it is. Many people scoff at my 7lb base weight. I don't pay them any mind.

Nope. Didn't get that far. Trail was dry and in good shape, weather was good, I felt good - just stepped wrong when turning to go up a switchback and down I went.

But I will be back shortly....

The 50lb remark was me venting at my disapointment for having to come home. acctually 30 to35 lb wet.Gimping with it on just made it feel 50lb.I shook down my pack at Woody Gap where the first trash can I came across.Dumped about 8lbs there. It weighed in at Amacalola at 38lbs.

I meant to say that the doctor recommended alternating heat and ice and ibuprofen cream. I got the cream at Carol Wright (http://www.carolwrightgifts.com/cwg_v2/cwg_layout_base2.cfm?mid_sec_page=cwg_prod_detail&seq_no=1&min_seq_no=702&SingleItem=32031&key=55119202).
