So yeah the maps came in today completing the final puzzle for the thru-hike (I hope). The NY/NJ maps were not in there as they are being redone but theyll be available in late May and I will get them mailed to me on the trail. Ive skimmed through them and read a little in the Maine guidebook. I really like the way the Maine maps are done although they could have used both sides of the paper for maps but the mileages and trail info are nice. I'll probaly go through and number them all for quick reference.

When I looked at the big pile of maps, I started to get an inkling of how very long a hike it was going to be. Enjoy!

If you have the time, you might consider transcribing the data from the Companion/Wingfoot (assuming you have one or the other) onto the maps (Hi Laces:)!!). That way you wont have to carry the maps AND the Companion/Wingfoot. Save a few ounces...
See you on the trail (& at Trail Days),

Yeah same here. When the Fedex guy gave me the package I was like wow this thing is pretty heavy. All the maps together weigh around 5lbs but actually it would be more since NY/NJ isnt in there so maybe 5.3 lbs altogether.

I had thought about taking a sharpie and making notes on the map from the guides or maybe some kind of post-it note deal. Maybe shrinking the town maps in the guides and post them on there too.

That is exactly what I did, incl using Sharpies and copying town maps. No Post-it Notes, though (they'd probably fall off).
