How plentiful is water between Neels Gap and Dicks Creek Gap? Planning a section hike the first of August. Thanks in advance.

Pretty good. Not great, so keep filled up whenever you can.
Most of the shelters have a good source, but in between can get a little sketchy.
Did the GA section last week.....no problems as long as you fill whenever possible.

Hiked NOBO from Deep Gap (NC) to Fontana Lake last week. The water was in excellent supply (streams & shelters) from Deep Gap to the NOC. From the NOC to Fontana Lake only rely on the shelters to have a steady supply. :)

Thanks for the information. The first 2 springs between Neels Gap and Hogpen identified on the AT map were dry on 8/4/07. There is water at Hogpen.

Nice meeting you last Sat. night, Skidsteer. With the heat wave down here in SC I'd like to be at altitude with some cooler temps.

I spent the past week working in Valdosta, GA. I was very happy to return home to the mountains. :)
