Greetings fellow hikers! I am new to whiteblaze (as this is my first post) and wanted some help on a "how to"...

I have an army issue poncho that doubles as my hammock rainfly and wanted some suggestions on the best way to seal the neck hole when used as the rainfly?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Carry a long twist tie (such as used for romaine lettuce at groceries) and tie off with head piece on outside.

yup, just tie it off. works well enough. i usally just use a lace or a piece of 550 cord. and twist it up before tieing. you can use a guy line to hold it off the rest of the tarp whiel it is stung up if you think you need to.
But, it is a tad heavy compared to a sheet of silnylon. there are mant place to get a hung of it and you could even hand sew it if you don't have a machine or someone who can sew it. I just made a 'dodger' (silnylon that covers the end of a tarp while it is set up as a tent making it a closed tent) for about 12 bux.

Pull the hood drawstring as tight as it will go. Pull the top of the hood to a point, twist a couple of times, and fold it on itself. You should be able to use the hood drawstring to secure it. I have used this system successfully on many rainy nights. I think there is an army poncho thread somewhere on WB.
